As a Singaporean food snob, I often have laksa and such cravings...yes Tropical Delight Noodle House does a very respectable laksa, but the crown goes to Banana Leaf. The roti canai is also excellent. Easily the best Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant in (at least) western Canada.

Yesterday was our first time we went to this fine restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We had a good time with the generous service, with the great cuisine and fine drinks and with the honest cost. We will no doubt come back again.

Visited this place 3 years ago and still thinking about the food everyday. We were vacationing at Banff when I spotted this Malaysian restaurant, right next to theAthe grocery store. I had their curry laksa and hub had their beef rendang. Flavorful food brings me right back home to Malaysia. Wish we have such a great cook in U.S. Definitely will stop in again when we are back in Calgary!

Really popular authentic malaysian and taiwanese restsurant. Get there early if possible. The wait can be long as this restaurant gets super busy. As for the food, superb. Flavourful and tasty. The bubbletea is good as well. It can take a while for food to come and it is slightly on the pricier side for lunch.

I’ve been here several times now and have not been disappointed. Lunch time is very very busy so come a bit early or a bit late. It is definitely worth the wait though, for a delicious authentic traditional Malaysian meal...speaking as someone who grew up eating this kind of food! The Laksa is amazing and the Sambal sauce is totally authentic. Pay attention to the spice ratings though, as they mean it when they say spicy. Even though it’s busy they are able to get dishes out quickly and the service is great. Highly recommend!

It will always be busy here because it is a place worth going to. You cant go wrong with any meal you choose here. Pricing is around $15+ for a large bowl or dish of food. The spice here...is actually spicy and not the type where you question it. The laksa...highly recommend. The roti here is freshly made and can be oily. The hainese chicken dish is good but the rice is what makes it amazing - Most flavourful rice.if you are ordering a milk tea...note you can ask for less sweetened. This is one of the best places to eat in calgary.

A little taste of Malaysia in this shop. Tucked in a corner and it's a little Ma and Pop shop. Great place to eat and hopefully you can handle your spice. Highly recommended.

Definitely the best Malaysian restaurant in Calgary. Their laksa noodles and nasi Lemak are both very good. Hainanese chicken rice could use some improvements. Bubble teas are also very good.

Hole-in-the-wall treat for those craving some Southeast Asian food. Got a generous and savoury serving of their Laksa. Staff were young but very accommodating to dietary needs. Will go back again whenever we miss a taste of “home”

A comfy place to enjoy a nice lunch with my wife. The service and food are good too. We ordered the seafood udon and bah kut teh with rice. Personally, I prefer the bah kut teh with a stronger taste though. We certainly will try the other great dishes next time.

Banana Leaf is an incredible gem tucked away off of 32nd. They offer a variety of delicious Malaysian and Taiwanese dishes that are all memorable. The Beef Brisket Laksa is excellent and goes well with a side of roti! The staff are friendly, fast and very attentive. Great place to come for lunch or dinner! Lots of parking is available out front. Five enthusiastic stars for Banana Leaf!!

Good flavors, reminds me of Malaysia. The laksa and roti canai were both delicious. The rice in the nasi lamak dish could use some work. It was kind of mushy and rice grains were all small and broken grains.

I just had the most amazing meal in Calgary. This was like walking down the streets of Kuala Lumpur markets. They got the Beef Rendang down with the spices, coconut, and chili. Man that was amazing. It had me sweating but so deliciously edible. It's perfectly paired with roasted and salted peanuts that go together with a spoon full of rice, beef, and a piece of fried egg., I also had the Roti which is paired with the most amazing red coconut curry I've ever had in my life. Lawd. LAWWWWDDD! I can now say that I've officially lived life. Eat here. Now. Everyday. Do it!

One of the best Malaysian cuisine in town. Their Hainanese chicken rice is awesome, served with the best chili sauce, ginger sauce and veggie: bean sprouts and cabbage. Roti canai is awesome too. Not a big fan of their drinks but most people are here for the food anyways.

Wonderful little out of the way restaurant in an area mostly devoid of quality eats. Comfortable and understated with fantastic laksa. I tried the fish ball laksa and was sold immediately. The soup had a beautiful depth of flavor and just the right level of spice. Will definitely need to come back.

There is real skill in the kitchen at Banana Leaf. You see it clearly in the laksa (Braised beef with yellow noodle is a personal favourite), but much of the other cooking showcases the kind of discipline, precision and technical mastery of Southeast Asian cuisine that has rarely been seen in this city over the past few decades. Service is also amazing. Simple cutlery and tableware, but the food is so complex and perfectly balanced at a very competitive price. A few dishes can really pack the heat, so if you have a low tolerance be sure to ask. I personally love the bold spicy flavours.

Great food. We usually come here when we drive up to the north east. The curry beef laska is really good. They can add spice depending on your taste. Another good dish is satay chicken on rice. The only downside is they dont take reservations and its a small restaraunt, so if you have a party bigger than 4, i suggest calling ahead. There is plenty of parking though.

Decent Malay and Taiwanese food. One of the few places that have Malaysian cuisine. Come here for Taiwanese fried chicken, roti canai and laksa noodle. Beef brisket laksa with yellow noodles is the best. Prices are reasonable given the portion. Service is slow but food is prepared quickly. The drinks are a bit watered down but they do have White Coffee with grass jelly. They only take cash or debit.

I adore this restaurant! They serve first-rate dishes, they have a nice menu, The chief cook in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I love very much tasting all their food. The dishes are always of high qualtity, the service towards the guests is agreeable. I often go to this restaurant and I was never unhappy. I recommend it with no hesitation.
